Picture House at Home!

Posted on 7 January 2021

We are delighted to team up with Modern Films to bring you an exciting selection of films, including new releases, for you to enjoy from the comfort of your home.

Whilst our priority is to be able to show you films on the big screen, we felt it was important to provide this platform to our audience whilst our doors are closed, as well as offering a service for those who are unable to visit us when we reopen. Our ambition is to celebrate cinema and filmmaking in all its diversity, and we hope our selection of Picture House at Home films will represent that.

We’ve selected six new films to begin with and we will update the online programme on our return. Simply visit this page, rent the film (with 48 hours after that to watch and enjoy) and we will benefit from 50% of the film hire fee, so you’re supporting your local indie cinema whilst seeing the best of this year’s film releases.

Enjoy!

Culture Recovery Fund supports the Picture House

Posted on 21 December 2020

We’re delighted to share the news that we are the recipient of two grants from the DCMS’ Culture Recovery Fund, totalling £101,271, as part of the BFI’s scheme awarding DCMS money to support independent cinemas during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Safety grant of £8,088 enabled the cinema to re-open safely in October, having invested in equipment for the building, PPE and cleaning materials. We have been able to create a welcoming and calm cinema environment where safety will always be our top priority. Whilst we were only able to trade for six days before the second national lockdown took effect, staff and customers alike commented that they feel reassured by the work done to make the big screen experience enjoyable.

We have just received the excellent news that we are also to be the recipient of a Business Sustainability award of £93,183, again as part of the DCMS’ Culture Recovery Fund. This funding will allow us to cover our operating costs over the course of the current financial year for periods of trading and closure alike, and will secure the cinema’s future well into 2021, which is Hebden Bridge Picture House’s centenary year, and beyond.

Once we’re able to re-open safely, we will be publishing a full programme of films and events celebrating 100 years of our beloved cinema being at the heart of Hebden Bridge.

We thank all of our customers for their support and good wishes during a difficult year and look forward to welcoming you back to the cinema in 2021.

FOYER REFURBISHMENT

Posted on 29 April 2016

We have some exciting news! From Tuesday 3rd May, for around 2 weeks, access to the cinema will be via the front of the stalls as we will be refurbishing the foyer. However, we are still very much open!

Simply follow the signs, walk past the gallery shop, then down the access ramp where you will find the Box Office just inside the black doors. We will have a pop-up kiosk at the rear of the stalls but there will be no hot drinks served (cold drinks are unaffected).

Please note there will be no wheelchair accessible toilet.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
