Hebden Bridge Film Festival 2026: Rebuilding
Doors 6pm
We’re thrilled to reveal that this year’s opening night film for HBFF will be a special preview of Rebuilding, starring Josh O’Connor (Challengers, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery) and Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus).
Following its premiere at Sundance, this powerful new film comes to Hebden Bridge ahead of its official release – and we’re honoured to open the festival with it!
After losing his precious family ranch to devastating wildfires, Dusty (Josh O’Connor) finds himself at rock bottom, living in a demountable along with other climate refugees.
Initially paralysed by grief for what he has lost, reconnecting with his young daughter (brilliant newcomer Lily Mae Torres) helps him to see a future. He slowly learns through a new-found community and helping each other that there is a chance to begin again and to imagine a different future.
Shot in the stunning landscape of Southern Colorado, where the skies are huge and the mountains meet the desert, this gently redemptive film reminds us that there is hope in community.
Rebuilding is a hopeful and sensitive drama about human connection in the wake of loss.
