Ann Lee (Amanda Seyfried), is the founding leader of the Shaker Movement, proclaimed as the female Christ by her followers. Depicting her establishment of a utopian society and the Shakers’ worship, through song and dance in the 18th century.

The Testament of Ann Lee captures the ecstasy and agony of her quest for a more equitable and utopian society.

Amanda Seyfried leads a stellar cast, with Christopher Abbott, Tim Blake Nelson, Viola Prettejohn, and Lewis Pullman as Lee’s devoted brother. The film features more than a dozen traditional Shaker hymns reimagined as rapturous movements with choreography by Celia Rowlson-Hall, and original songs & score by Daniel Blumberg.
