Next Goal Wins follows the American Samoa soccer team’s quest for redemption after their infamous 31-0 loss to Australia in 2001. With the 2014 World Cup qualifiers looming, they enlist down-and-out coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender) to turn the team’s fortunes around. Rongen faces the Herculean task of transforming one of the world’s weakest teams into contenders.
