Mayor's Charity Screening: The Railway Children

Join us for a special charity event hosted by the Mayor of Hebden Royd Town Council, Councillor Pat Fraser, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the the modern railway network – Railway 200.

Enjoy The Railway Children, one of her all-time favourite films and a beloved family classic featured in the BFI’s Top 100 British Films of all time. All proceeds from the event will support the Mayor’s chosen charity, the Hebden Bridge Saints Under-15s Girls’ Football Team.

Railway 200 is a year-long nationwide partnership-led campaign to celebrate 200 years of the modern railway and inspire a new generation of young pioneering talent to choose a career in rail. It invites community, rail and other groups to get involved.

Raffle tickets will be on sale in the foyer, giving you the chance to win fantastic prizes while raising money for the team. Plus, enjoy a complimentary cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit as you sit back and watch the film!

After Charles Waterbury (Iain Cuthbertson) is imprisoned on false charges of selling state secrets, his wife (Dinah Sheridan) must move to a small house near a railway station. The Waterbury children — Bobbie (Jenny Agutter), Phyllis (Sally Thomsett) and Peter (Gary Warren) — occupy themselves watching the trains, even befriending a gentleman (William Mervyn) who frequents the station. When the children discover what has happened to their father, their new friend provides key assistance.
