Jack Torrance accepts a caretaker job at the Overlook Hotel, where he, along with his wife Wendy and their son Danny, must live isolated from the rest of the world for the winter. But all work and no play leads to a psychological disturbance in which Jack becomes haunted by the hotel’s disturbing past and begins to terrorise his family. Stanley Kubrick creates a deeply ominous atmosphere thanks to nightmarish visuals and committed performances from the cast in this undeniably disturbing horror masterpiece.

Grad student Helen Lyne (Virginia Madsen) is working on a thesis about urban legends, when she stumbles across the Candyman (Tony Todd). Blamed for the murders of numerous residents of Chicago’s Cabrini-Green housing project, Candyman’s legend looms large. As Helen delves deeper and deeper into Candyman’s world, she realises she may never emerge unscathed.
