The Friends of the Picture House present Name Me Lawand to mark Refugee Week – a festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. Founded in 1998 in the UK and held every year around World Refugee Day on the 20 June, Refugee Week 2023 will be the 25th anniversary (19-25th June 2023).

Following a young, deaf Kurdish refugee who settles in Derby and learns to communicate at the Royal School of the Deaf, Name Me Lawand is set to be one of the standout British documentaries of 2023.
