Director: Lee Cronin
Starring: Morgana Davies, Lily Sullivan, Nell Fisher, Alyssa Sutherland, Jayden Daniels, Gabrielle Echols
93 mins

The terrifying new instalment in the iconic horror franchise created by Sam Raimi in the 1980s. A new group of young people uncover the Necronomicon, inadvertently unleashing the mother of all evil.

Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, EVIL DEAD RISE (directed by Lee Cronin) tells the twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Sutherland and Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.

EVIL DEAD RISE is produced by long time franchise producer Rob Tapert (Ash vs Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) and executive produced by series creator and horror icon Sam Raimi and cult legend and “Ash” himself, Bruce Campbell.

Evil Dead (2013) (18)

Brutal modern-day remake of Sam Raimi’s cult classic horror. Mia (Jane Levy), a young woman struggling with sobriety, heads to a remote cabin with her brother and a group of friends. There they discover a Book of the Dead and unwittingly summon dormant demons, living in the nearby woods, who possess the group in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival. Raimi co-wrote the script with debut director Fede Alvarez and Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno). Shot in New Zealand.
