Orphan

Set in the aftermath of the 1956 Hungarian Uprising, Orphan is the heart-wrenching and ultra-realist latest from Oscar-winning filmmaker László Nemes.

The chronicle of a child’s coming to terms with his own family history and his own self, both reflective of the turmoils of the twentieth century in the heart of Europe. Orphan reunites Nemes with his longtime creative partners: co-writer Clara Royer and director of photography Mátyás Erdély.

Captured on 35mm, the film emerges as a harrowing, aesthetically profound study of endurance that echoes the visceral impact of their previous joint efforts.
