Surveillance expert Harry Caul (Gene Hackman) is detached from his life and obsessive about his work. When a mysterious client hires him to tail a young couple, he manages to record a cryptic conversation between them – but when he begins to suspect his client may kill the pair, he makes the mistake of becoming far more involved than he planned.
Tormented by memories of a previous assignment gone wrong, Caul becomes obsessed with the tape, and soon finds himself entangled in high-level power plays that leave him victim to the same technology he uses.

The Hebden Bridge Film Club (HBFC) is an informal group of Hebden Bridge Picture House fans. Whether you are new to the area or simply want to meet new people, you are very welcome to join us. Members are able to nominate films they'd love to see screened at the Picture House and vote on those selected monthly.
The film club welcomes anyone who wishes to connect with like-minded people. Some of us occasionally meet up for a post-film discussion and we also have monthly drinks for anyone that can make it.
